The osteopathic profession considers primary care central to its core values. Community Memorial Healthcare is proud to offer a Family Medicine Residency Program that takes those values to heart. Our residency has continued accreditation with ACGME and offers a three-year training program with a competency-based curriculum. We emphasize longitudinal exposure to patients through a variety of outpatient experiences, including community service, which we provide to underserved populations in Ventura County. As our residents progress through the program, they take on increasing levels of responsibility for the care of their patients.
We have a dedicated faculty, all of whom practice actively within our community, and we work with our subspecialty colleagues to give our residents a broad range of experiences. As a small program, we are able to offer one-on-one faculty instruction to help our residents build the skills necessary to succeed in the community practice of family medicine. Our residents also have protected time for education including conferences, review of day-to-day clinical tips, board review, journal club, and bedside teaching of OMM. These experiences are enhanced by our small collegial environment, which promotes educational interchange between residents in all of our programs.
Our goal is to offer excellent teaching in an environment that emphasizes strong interpersonal communication, professionalism, and the ethical practice of family medicine. Through our commitment to these values, we strive to train physicians who are leaders in providing high quality primary care to families within the community.
