Osteopathic Recognition

Our Family Medicine Residency has Continued Accreditation from ACGME for Osteopathic Recognition. Our program has a strong tradition of osteopathic excellence. Lectures and hands-on sessions are designed to teach osteopathic philosophy, anatomy, osteopathic manipulation techniques, and reinforce appropriate use of these procedures. Emphasis is placed on the use of Osteopathic Principles and Practice (OPP) to enhance patient care and on dedication to lifelong learning of osteopathic medicine. Residents appointed to a designated Osteopathic Resident position must complete the following prior to graduation:

  • Participate in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) OMM clinics with a resident to preceptor ratio of at most 2:1
  • Deliver a didactic Osteopathic Principles & Practice (OPP) lecture during PGY3
  • Attend OPP lectures
  • Participate in integrated OMM appointments in the outpatient Family Medicine Residency throughout PGY2 and PGY3
