Every Community Memorial resident is required to participate in scholarly activity in order to meet graduation requirements. Our dedicated Research Department supports residents throughout the research process, including research design, IRB approval, data collection, data analysis, and research dissemination through peer-reviewed journal articles and conference presentations. Research support team members include:
Michelle Azimov, MD, FACP
Graal Diaz, PhD, MSN, MA, CCRNK
Amanda Frugoli, DO, FACOI
Cameryn Garrett, PhD, MWH
Robert Rubin, MD, PhD
To help showcase our research, GME hosts an annual Resident Research Forum.
GME also gives residents the opportunity to present their research. Our residents have presented posters at regional and national conferences, including the Southern California Chapter of the American College of Surgeons Annual Scientific Meeting, the Southwestern Surgical Congress Annual Meeting, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Annual Meeting, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma and Clinical Congress of Acute Care Surgery.
