Robert Sogomonian, MD

About

Robert Sogomonian, MD, was raised in California and moved to New York City for his specialty training. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at Mount Sinai Health System in New York City.

Dr. Sogomonian is triple board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Sogomonian’s clinical interests and services include:

  • Coronary artery disease, for which he performs angioplasty and stenting, atherectomy, intravascular lithotripsy, intravascular imaging and mechanical circulatory support
  • Peripheral arterial disease, including the carotid, subclavian, iliac, abdominal aorta and leg arteries, for which he performs endovascular percutaneous angioplasty and intervention
  • Venous disease, deep and superficial veins including iliac vein stenting and venous thrombectomy for deep vein thrombosis
  • Pulmonary embolism treatment, including mechanical thrombectomy and catheter-directed thrombolysis
  • Adult cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure, valvular heart disease and arrhythmias. For diagnosis, he performs noninvasive diagnostic testing methods like echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, coronary CT angiography and vascular ultrasound.

Extensive training and experience allow Dr. Sogomonian to focus on quality of care. His care philosophy is to partner with patients, their families and multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality cardiovascular care with compassion, honor and dignity. Patient education and engagement in decision making elevates treatment outcomes.

Dr. Sogomonian and his wife, Emma, have four children and enjoy family activities, travelling and sports.
