Camarillo

Camarillo was founded in the mid-19th century by Adolfo Camarillo, a successful rancher, and businessman. An hour north of Los Angeles via highway 101, Camarillo is the halfway point between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. It’s a practical location for couples with one working spouse in Ventura or Santa Barbara and the other in LA or Pasadena.

Quiet but never dull, Camarillo boasts a strong sense of community. With a low crime rate and the county’s top-ranked school district, it’s a safe, welcoming community in which to raise a family. Camarillo is also home to California State University Channel Islands, known for strong academic programs in liberal arts, sciences, and business.

Camarillo is just a 15-minute drive from the coast, with easy access to some of Southern California’s most famous beaches, Point Mugu, Zuma, and Malibu. Local attractions include the historic Camarillo Ranch, and the Commemorative Air Force Museum, but the town’s destination outlet shopping may be what draws the most out-of-towners.
