Life Before Medical School: I was born in a small coastal Northern California town and grew up in San Diego. I went to undergrad at UC Santa Barbara and volunteered at Cottage Hospital while receiving my bachelor’s degree in biology. I worked in ecological conservation and agricultural biotechnology while enjoying surfing and being outdoors. I took gap years to work as a certified nursing assistant and conduct research in pre-clinical hepatology. Leading up to medical school, I spent time traveling with my wife in Japan and we adopted our second Bernese mountain dog. While at Creighton, I discovered a passion for mental health during my psychiatry rotations within the county hospital system of Phoenix, AZ. When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and pets, surfing, trying new restaurants, and going on road trips. I am excited to get back to coastal California and serve the community at Community Memorial/Ventura County while exploring everything this beautiful area has to offer.
Why Ventura? I chose the program at Ventura because of the passion for psychiatry training and the tight-knit family atmosphere I felt on interview day, the strong sense of community in the city of Ventura, and the region’s wonderful weather and access to local beaches, mountains, and surrounding adventures!
