About

Life Before Medical School:  I’ve always been fascinated by the intricacies of human anatomy and physiology and its profound impact on one’s health and life. Similarly, I was intrigued by human characteristics and how each life experience shapes the individual we become. I used to wonder about what I now know as the human condition, which is unlimited to each individual.

Medical School:  The road to medical school is different in Bulgaria. Our six-year program begins after high school. Preparing for entry into medical school ( biology and chemistry exams) started in high school, and I found myself dedicated to the medical profession at an early age.  I can describe my medical school experiences as captivating and engaging. Each phase of the program shed new light on what I thought I knew. The practical learning experience brought everything I studied to life. I appreciated the strict academic environment followed by a series of practical experiences. In the end, I found the experience rewarding. I realized more than before my decision to become a doctor was the correct choice.

Why Ventura?

Since coming to the United States, I have found comfort in Southern California, specifically Ventura County. Ventura County holds a special place in my heart; it is my cherished home, where I’ve built meaningful relationships and formed deep friendships. My personal experiences with people have been warm, inviting, and engaging. The community is exceptional, friendly, kind and I always feel safe and welcomed. I love the weather and the ability to get to the mountains and the beach on the same day. I find everything I need in the Ventura area and look forward to serving the community long after residency.

CMH stood out to me because of its exceptional approach to patient care. The hospital’s commitment to interdisciplinary medicine provides high quality patient care. Additionally, CMH boasts an impressive, unpretentious culture and offers a robust residency training. I was drawn to the support and mentorship provided by the caring, empathetic, and remarkably knowledgeable, yet humble attending physicians.

Next Adventure:  I want to consider many things for my next adventure, including scuba diving, exploring California with its breathtaking landscapes of Sequoia and Yosemite National Parks, learning to ride a motorcycle, surfing and skiing.

Medical Interests:  The areas of adolescent and child psychiatry, substance abuse and addiction, and eating disorders continue to be at the top of my medical interests. My quest is to better understand these areas and use my knowledge and understanding to help those where these issues limit or prevent them from accessing a whole and enriching life.
