Why Ventura? Growing up nearby in Arizona, I always wanted to live on the coast of California, and I figured there was no better time than during residency. Having spent the past 4 years traversing the nuances of living in a major east coast city, I felt it was time for a change of pace and to be closer to family and friends. Ventura, and Community Memorial Healthcare seemed like the ideal place. I was drawn to program’s small size for the opportunity of comradery, mentorship, and forming strong relationships. Meeting the residents during my interview day confirmed my hopes, as there was a palpable close-knit environment. Additionally, as a proud Mexican American I am excited to serve a diverse patient population with a large Hispanic representation. Overall, I am excited to catch breathtaking sunsets over the pacific, enjoy fish tacos by the pier, and embrace the idyllic coastal lifestyle while furthering my training in a wonderful community.
