Why Ventura? First and foremost, California is HOME! One of my favorite quotes from MLK Jr is, “The ultimate measure of a man/woman is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” Throughout my journey in medical school and as a single mother, I have found a way to persevere through many obstacles and redefine the meaning of resilience, which was achieved through personal strength and with the guidance of mentors. I can say from my first interaction with Community Memorial that this program promotes a culture of opportunity and mentorship. Community Memorial has created a very diverse and inclusive program that represents the surrounding community. Lastly, Ventura being on the coast of California w/ beautiful beaches and numerous outdoorsy activities.
