Victor Bonavida, DO
- Program: Orthopaedic Surgery
- Year: PGY1
About
Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
Life Before Medical School: I spent many years working in a sports rehabilitation clinic as a personal trainer, physical therapy aide, and athletic training student. I then obtained my EMT license, where I worked at various action sports events all over the United States and the world.
Why Ventura?: I was fortunate to spend my third year of medical school in Ventura at CMHS for my clinical rotations. The year I spent there was extremely transformative in my education, and I knew I wanted to train there as a resident. Having grown up in Agoura Hills, bordering Ventura County, I wanted to complete my orthopaedic surgery training at a program that had incredible faculty, awesome resident culture, and ample learning opportunities while having the ability to stay close to home and my support system. My wife and I are both from the area, so having this support system was extremely important to us! Also, Ventura County has an extremely diverse population that I get to serve while giving back to a community close to where I grew up.
Next Adventure: Traveling!
Medical Interests: Sports medicine, trauma, hand and upper extremity
Other Interests: Outside of medical interests I love spending time with my beautiful wife, hiking with my dog Luna, watching the Dodgers, Lakers, and Pittsburgh Steelers, traveling, cooking, and playing board games with my family.
